Designing digital products since 2020

Focus

Product Strategy · Interaction Design · Design Systems

I bring clarity to complex product challenges and lead the work through to the details.

I’m Dan Jamrock, a product designer based in New York City. My experience spans early-stage products and global platforms, combining product strategy, interaction design, and systems thinking.

I help teams define what’s worth building, navigate competing priorities, and turn direction into thoughtful, usable experiences. I stay hands-on throughout, partnering closely with engineering, mentoring designers, and aligning stakeholders around decisions grounded in customer needs and business goals.

My responsibility extends through implementation and iteration: helping the team learn from what ships and use that evidence to decide what comes next.

How I Work

Define the problem worth solving.

I use research, product data, and technical constraints to establish a shared direction. When starting from scratch, that can mean narrowing a broad vision to a first release the team can build and learn from.

Make tradeoffs explicit.

Customer needs, commercial goals, brand ambition, and delivery constraints rarely align on their own. I make the competing priorities visible, explain my recommendation, and use evidence to help the team decide.

Work through the details with engineering.

I stay hands-on with flows, interfaces, prototypes, and interaction states. I work with engineers to understand what is feasible, resolve edge cases, and preserve the intent of the experience through implementation. Constraints inform both the design and the sequence in which we deliver it.

Build ownership in other designers.

I give designers context, clear expectations, and room to make decisions. Mentoring other designers through regular reviews, supporting their ideas, and encouraging them to present and defend their own work is critical to my methodology.

Selected Experience

2022 — Present

Harman International

Senior UX/UI Designer

Led design across complex digital initiatives, translating customer needs, brand direction, and commercial priorities into clear experiences. Worked across disciplines to establish direction, explain tradeoffs, and align stakeholders around decisions. • Connected research and information architecture to product discovery, interaction patterns, and interface design. • Developed reusable components, design guidance, and governance that supported consistent execution across regional teams. • Partnered with engineering to resolve implementation constraints, sequence improvements, and review design quality through rollout. • Mentored designers through critique and shared problem-solving, giving them ownership and opportunities to present their work. • Supported adoption through documentation, workshops, and ongoing reviews.

Founding Designer / Product Design Lead · Contract

Established the design practice for an early-stage AI product, working directly with the founder and engineers to turn an open-ended opportunity into a focused experience. Owned design from discovery and product definition through prototyping, beta delivery, and iteration. • Used customer interviews to identify unmet needs, frame hypotheses, and prioritize the first release. • Made scope and sequencing decisions explicit, balancing customer value, development capacity, and time for learning. • Designed AI interactions with clear feedback, inspectable information, and opportunities for user correction. • Connected interface design with onboarding and service operations to address the experience beyond the screen. • Synthesized beta feedback into immediate improvements and recommendations for future product development. A separate six-month contract overlapping my Harman tenure.

Rokt

Product Designer

Worked within an engineering team on personalized commerce experiences, connecting customer research, interaction design, and experimentation. Balanced monetization opportunities with the quality of the customer’s primary journey. • Translated behavioral insights into contextual offer placement, information hierarchy, and interaction patterns. • Partnered with data science and engineering to turn relevance signals into customer-facing experiences. • Defined design criteria for when offers should appear and when they should be withheld. • Used live experimentation and customer feedback to assess commercial performance alongside experience guardrails. • Communicated design rationale to internal and partner stakeholders, carrying decisions through iteration and implementation.

Beyond the Work

Before moving into product design, I spent nearly a decade as a chef in globally acclaimed, Michelin-rated kitchens. I had the privilege of learning from exceptional people in environments where precision, creativity, and consistency mattered every day.

That experience still shapes how I work: preparing thoughtfully, staying composed under pressure, and understanding how individual decisions affect the whole team. It also taught me to welcome critique and take pride in details that others might never notice.

Outside design, cooking remains a big part of my life, alongside contemporary art, electronic music, and exploring parts unknown.

Let's Build Something Worth Using
